Ripe: May Book Giveaway

Blog formerly known as Linen & Thread.

I would like to welcome to all my new viewers.  Yesterday was my best blog day ever, thanks to Erin at
I hope you will continue to follow me as I venture into this world of blogging.

As a little girl I never dreamt that I would ever have so much lovely around me.
Today as I look around I am taken back by the peace and serenity I find here.
I appreciate and am grateful every day for all that life has given me.

A few pictures of our bounty.
There are 600 syrah grape vines all orderly on the hillside.  Gordon loves to work up in the grapes.
I love sitting in my yard on a summer's evening having dinner with the family
and looking up at the hillside and feeling like I'm in Italy.
When I eat a fresh tomato out of the garden it reminds me of the Jersey tomatoes
I ate like an apple as a child, yum.
Some of our fruit trees.  We also have apple and lemon trees.
I would love to have avocados but believe it or not we get frost in our area in Southern California.
I could live five miles away and be able to grow them.  Oh well, even paradise can't be perfect!
To see some of the beautiful pictures and learn more about this wonderful cookbook go here.
I hope you enjoyed the little tour
through the edible part of my home.

I found my way here via House of Turquoise but I'll be back often.
We enjoy many of the same things!
Would love to win the book, and if by chance I do (fingers crossed!) I'd have it sent to my daughter who could either hang on to it until we come to the U.S. next year, or send it with someone coming our way :)

  11. Your house and garden are beautiful, as always! It must be wonderful to be able to enjoy it year round instead of just for a few months of the year. Our trees are finally in bloom and I just planted the garden, so will have to wait until summer to enjoy the harvest...

Your backyard and garden are absolutely beautiful and how nice to eat your own home grown fruits and vegetables. Some day I hope to have a vegetable garden too. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway.

  15. Lovely! This looks like a beautiful book - I just planted some seeds yesterday and am looking forward to enjoying some fresh veggies with my kids (providing that the Calgary frost doesnt get to them first!).

  16. I just discovered your blog, and it's great. I would love to try the recipes. I live in Idaho, so my garden is not quite so far along. :)
