i enjoy baking, what better way to show your love. during the holidays all my old tried and true recipes emerge. this is one that has been around as long as i can remember. i hope it will make its way into your home as a new family tradition.
gingerbread cake
1 1/3 cup flour
1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
3/4 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. allspice
3/4 t. ginger
combine in mixing bowl and whisk.
add:
1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
beat together until well combined.
pour batter into buttered 9" square pan.
bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
butterscotch sauce
over medium heat melt 1/2 cup butter in small saucepan.
add 1 cup brown sugar, stir until dissolved {about 5 minutes}.
combine 2 T. cornstarch and 1 cup hot water.
add to butter and brown sugar.
bring to a boil stirring constantly.
add t. vanilla and a pinch of nutmeg.
don't forget the whip cream.
one slice left, enjoy.
this sounds amazing! i think i might try it on Christmas Day!
